Happy Mother's Day & Congratulations

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there! I hope your today was extra special.

I spent Mother's Day with my Mom, Dad and Gramma. We went for a very delicious brunch and ate wayyyyy too much food!

Here are some pictures of the gift set I put together for my Mom for Mother's Day. I am really happy with the way it turned out and my Mom loved it as well! She said it was too pretty to take apart so she has it sitting on her bay window.

The first thing I made was the card, which was CASED from Geny Cassady's card found

And everything that follows was inspired by the card.



Below is a picture of the little package I put together by recycling the packaging from a $1 stamp set from Michaels. I'm starting to keep all packaging (wihin reason of course) with hopes that it can someday be used in some type of project. My little bit to help the environment!



Here is another recycle project. I took a left over cardboard tube, which had crochet cotton originally wrappeed around it, and covered it with paper. Thankfully, the long length of an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper wrapped perfectly around. I decorated the front of the tube to match everything and put about 6 individually wrapped (which is not very environmently friendly) biscottis inside the tube.



I have forever been looking at trying out Papertrey's My Timeless Templates and I wanted something to put my Mom's Tim Horton's gift card in, so I ended up getting the Cash or Charge template. I'm so glad I did! It comes with three templates and a few really awesome projects ideas. Below was the project I created to keep with the tea theme.



Here is what the inside looks like with the gift card tucked nicely in a pre-printed slot. All I had to do is cut along the line.



This is what everything looks like before and after everything was put in a decorative clear bag, which I recycled from a local scrapbook store that is now unfortunately closed. Anytime you made a purchased, your items were placed into these really pretty clear bags. And of course I saved each one of them and each one is different.





I have to throw in a non-crafting addition to this post. I want to congratulate Windsor's Junior Hockey team, the Spitfires, on winning the Ontario Hockey League Championship last Tuesday for the second year in a row. They were down 3-0 in the series against Kitchener in the conference finals, fought back and won the next four. Then they swept Barrie in 4 to win their second straight OHL Championship against Barrie. The best part, I was there to see them win it for the second year in a row! Now they move on to defend their Memorial Cup championship in Brandon, Manitoba! Let's keep the Memorial Cup in Windsor boys! GO SPITS GO!!

This was from the moment they won....so much energy in the building! So amazing when a team can win at home in front of all their fans!

Argyle Birthday

Is anyone else sufferring from major sinus problems like I am? I never use to have sinus issues but this year has been brutal. Advil seems to be my best friend right now!!

Take away the sinus problems and I seem to be on a roll with making cards. This happens only a few times a year for me, so I try to take advantage when it does. Here is a birthday card I made for my Aunt. She is a very crafty person and her area of expertise seems to span from one end of the crafting spectrum to the other. She can whip up a quilt like there is no tomorrow and she makes the best chocolate dipped pretzel sticks on this planet! To die for! So I thought I would send her a crafty card for her Birthday.

I carried the Argyle theme to the envelope, which is shown behind the card. See those cute little buttons? They were a birthday present from my Papertrey Pen Pal Dana.....Hawaiian Shores buttons from Papertrey!! Love them....Thank you Dana!!

Since I received so much positive feed back on decorating the inside of my Baptism card. I decided to decorate the inside of my Aunt's birthday card as well. Something I don't normally do, so thank you very much everyone for leaving a lot of love on my last post. I really do enjoy reading each and every comment.

Evening Hockey Fans and to everyone else!

I'm so excited! The Windsor Junior Hockey Spitfires beat the Kitchener Rangers in game 7 to go on and defend their title in the Ontario Hockey League Championship against the Barrie Colts. They were down 3-0 to Kitchener in the series and came back and won 4 straight!! And game 1 in the OHL Championship is in the books for Windsor! Woo Hoo...only 3 more wins and we're off to the Memorial Cup again!! Sorry...I digress!

Now onto crafting! I have been meaning to post this card for quite some time but just have never gotten around to typing up the post. A co-worker asked me to make her a Baptism card and she wanted me to keep with the theme of the invitation, which I think is a great idea. Really shows you wanted to make the card personal. My co-worker also likes to put their name on the card as well. She also wanted to make it a money card.

So this is the invitation I had for inspiration:

This is the inside of the card. The pink paper is adhered with pop-dots to create a little pocket where the folded money, or cheque, could be placed. I would think you could put a gift card in as well. I should have taken a picture with some money in the pocket so you can see what it looks like.

I'm really happy with how the card turned out. My co-worker absolutely loved it! I did stamp the Fancy Flourishes on the outside of the envelope too.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Wow! I just realized at 7:00 pm that today was Papertrey Ink Blog Hop day! I don't think I have ever made a card so fast. I had the idea in mind and it turned out just like I had envisioned. That doesn't happen often!

Reuse Recycle Recreate

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. It has been a cold dreary weekend in Windsor, Ontario today. Perfect time to stay inside, do laundry and some paper crafting. And even better to go and watch the Windsor Spitfires play the Kitchener Rangers in game 7 of Ontario Hockey League conference finals. They were down 3-0 in the series and have brought it back to Windsor for game 7! GO SPITS!!

This is my contribution to reuse-recycle-recreate. My aunt handed down to me some crochet cotton thread that she wasn't going to use. I store my crochet cotton wrapped around chipboard, so once I got it all stored away I was left with these cute little plastic tubes. My first thought was napkin holders. So this is what I came up with! My mom's sunroom has a nautical theme to it and she loves setting a really nice table when people come over for dinner. Aren't they the cuttest?!!





I made a set of 8 and all materials used was from my scrap pile! Feels so good to actually find uses for things which would normally be thrown away.

Cherish

It is when scrapbook pages turn out like this and bring tears to my eyes, I know I have found a hobby for life!



I didn't take the greatest picture of the page. Still trying to figure out the best way to take pictures of my projects.

This picture is of my Mom and my Gramma (my father's mother) from Christmas 2008. My Gramma celebrated her 90th birthday in January 2010 and is one of the most inspiring women I know. She has had a lot of trials and tribulations in her life and our whole family is so grateful she is still here with us, and will be for many years to come.

There are no words appropriate to express how much my Mom means to me, except she is the world to me and I love her very much.

I truly Cherish both these women in my life!!

I really can't remember all the products I used in this layout because I started the page awhile ago and just put the finishing touches on it tonight by adding the title. I used my Cricut to cut the red lacey frame in the background. I also used the Cricut to cut out the word "Cherish", I believe the cartridge was Lyrical Letters. I used the Cricut Design Studio to weld the letters together so the word came out in one piece. Oh and the patterned paper is Basic Grey Wassail. The cardstock is Bazill and I used the Martha Stewart leaf punch. The rest I took out of my stash which is no longer in the original packaging, so I'm not quite sure which brand everything else is.

Compose a Card #7

This is my first time participating in Becky's Compose a Card and I am sure glad I did. Forced me to use my creativity, as well as some of my stash!! So here is my card:

I didn't have any black felt so I rubbed Papertrey Ink's True Black ink on my white felt to add at least a little black to the felt.

First Blog Post and Some cards

So here it is...my first blog post! I'm so excited!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog and the cards I created. It was a rainy day in Southern Ontario, which makes for a perfect day to do laundry and some paper crafting!

It's been a while since I have made greeting cards. I've mainly been working on scrapbooks. It was fun getting back into making cards.

This first card is a little out of my comfort zone, but I love the way it turned out. It opens like a pamphlet, a little different than the usually one fold card.

Above is a picture of the front of the card fully closed.



This is what the card looks like once it is opened. What's nice about this card, it can be sent to either a male or female.

When I make cards, I usually make more than one of the same design. I feel I am being more productive. I changed the sentiment on some of the other cards to a Happy Birthday greeting. It is nice to have cards readily available, instead of trying to make a card at the last minute.

The second card uses felt, something I have never used in either card making or scrapbooking. I think I'll have to make a trip back to Fabricland to get more. I know I will definitely be using it more in the future!



Any sentiment can be used for this card as well. I did not stamp a sentiment on the additional cards. They can either be used as a plain note card, or I can stamp the appropriate sentiment when I need to send to the card.
